07.09.03 - 8:42 p.m. OK, as my last entry ended with a plea for help in my international relations class I have to add that at this very moment I am writing as President George Bush is addressing the nation on the war on terrorism. My assignment this weekend was to read Time from last week about the same topic. I find it funny becasue the president is saying to the public exactly what I read in my articles this weekend. Essentially it is like he is helping me becasue the speech is layed out in such a way all americans should be able to understand so basically I understand directly from the presidents mouth. haha I do have to say in that reading the article and listening I understand the goals of the president and the rest of his supporters. I see the goals and steps necessary in rebuilding Iraq and I support the help we are giving them. But now I must say how I realize this is the same man and same government who are preventing gay and lesbian couples from getting a legal marriage. I think about how such a man can have what seem like such great goals and aim for rebuilding another country but such terrible judegment on how to make good decisions for the people who live in the "free" nation he live in. How can he help a differnt country write a constitution when he disregards ours? - ever heard of a little thing called persuit of happiness and liberty? lib·er·ty 1.The condition of being free from restriction or control. 2.The right and power to act, believe, or express oneself in a manner of one's own choosing. 3.The condition of being physically and legally free from confinement, servitude, or forced labor.
